NEET 2023 Guidelines for MBBS Aspirants

The Exam Guidelines of NEET for MBBS Aspirants 

Exam guidelines mean you have to check a few criteria while applying for an exam. Those guidelines determine whether you’re eligible for the exam or not.

Read the below guidelines to determine whether you’re an ideal applicant or not: 

 

  • Students must qualify for 10+2 or equivalent examination along with the core subjects Physics, Chemistry Biology/Biotechnology, and English from an authorized board.
  • As of 31st December 2023, students must be 17 years old. 
  • The upper age limit for the NEET examination is removed hence one can take attempt it. 
  • Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs & Foreign Nationals aspirants are eligible to apply.
  • There is no attempt limit: you can attempt NEET as many times as you want to.

The subjects and chapters to focus on for NEET 2023 

While discussing guidelines it’s extremely important to keep note of the subjects and their divisions. Appearing for NEET requires only 3 subjects to study, those are Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. 

In an important examination like NEET, you have to study too many chapters. Therefore here, we will discuss the key chapters to pay special attention to:

 

Physics and its important chapters 

Needless to say, Physics has been one of the most crucial subjects ever. We have taken a few chapters to pay special attention to their importance. The crucial chapters for Physics are (Read serially):

  1. Mechanics
  2. Heat & Thermodynamics 
  3. Electrostatics & Magnetism 
  4. Current Electricity & Electromagnetic Induction 
  5. Modern Physics 
  6. Optics 

 

The other important subjects for Physics are the System of Particle and Rigid Body and Laws of Motion. 

Apart from studying all the above-mentioned chapters, you must study have an overview of every single chapter. 

Chemistry and its important chapters

On average it’s seen that you can expect nearly 45-50 questions from Chemistry. Chemistry has several sections such as Inorganic, Organic and Physical. Important chapters that you need to study here: 

  1. Inorganic I
  2. Inorganic II
  3. Organic I 
  4. Organic II 
  5. Physical I 
  6. Physical II 

As it’s a matter of 45-50 questions you have to make sure, you get an overview of all the subjects and chapters. 

 

Biology and its important chapters 

Biology has two separate subsections to consider. One is Botany and the other is Zoology. Read serially to understand what are the significant chapters. 

 

For Botany the Chapters are 

  1. Plant Diversity 
  2. Cell Biology and Cell Division 
  3. Plant Reproduction 
  4. Ecology 
  5. Plant Anatomy 
  6. Bio-molecule
  7. Genetics Biotechnology  
  8. Plant Morphology 
  9. Plant Physiology 
  10. Biology in Human Welfare

 

For Zoology the Chapters are  

    1. Animal Diversity 
    2. Animal Tissue
    3. Structural Organisation in Animals 
    4. Human Physiology 
    5. Human Reproduction and Reproductive Health 
    6. Origin and Evolution 
    7. Animal Husbandry 
  • Human Health and Diseases 

You must keep in mind all the above chapters you must read carefully. They are showcased serially as per importance. 

The Qualifying Marks for NEET

Regardless to mention that qualifying marks vary as per categories. The categories are:

To attempt the NEET examination the qualifying marks for a candidate are for the:

UR  Category is – 50%, 

OBC/SC/ST Category – 40%, and 

PWD – 45%
